Born on 11th May 2000 in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Japan, Tsunoda studied at LCA International Elementary School before joining Wako High School. In 2019, he joined Nippon Sport Science University to pursue a degree in sports management but dropped out to concentrate on his racing career entirely.

Yuki Tsunoda's racing career and F1 entry


Tsunoda began his professional racing career in karting at nine years of age. From the Honda Formula Dream Project, he won the JAF Japan F4 East Series in 2017 and the F4 Japanese Championship in 2018. He later switched to FIA Formula 3 in 2019 and to FIA Formula 2 in 2020, where he finished third in the overall ranking for Carlin. Tsuda earned himself the support of sponsors like Honda, Red Bull, and AlphaTauri throughout his career.
Tsunoda first became a Formula 1 driver in the year 2021, when he managed to obtain ninth place in his first race at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Year in and year out, he retained his position with the team, renamed RB Formula One Team in 2024. Consistency and improvement persuaded him to renew his contract through to the end of the 2025 season.
