How to get free Franz Beckenbauer in EA FC Mobile

Franz Beckenbauer, one of the most iconic defenders in football’s history, has finally arrived in EA FC Mobile as an Icon. Franz Beckenbauer, fondly known as "Der Kaiser", made his long-awaited debut on the mobile platform today through the Pitch Beats event's Icon Making Challenge. While he has long been a part of football gaming history on other EA Sports titles, this marks the very first time Beckenbauer is available in EA’s mobile football franchise.
Franz Beckenbauer, as an EA Sports avatar last appeared in the PC game FIFA 17, as a 93-OVR CB. He was not included in FIFA Mobile 18, which launched in November 2017, and remained missing from mobile and PC titles for more than seven years. His exclusion was a result of his off-field controversies in 2014 and 2016, which led to EA to not include his cards in later editions.
Despite these past issues, no formal charges were brought against Der Kaiser before his passing in 2021. Thus, in the same year, FIFA closed its ethics inquiry, as the statute of limitations had expired. With the case closed, the door opened for EA Sports to finally celebrate the legacy of one of football's most influential names. March 21, 2025 saw Beckenbauer’s official return to EA Sports titles through the “Legends Return” patch in EA FC 25 on PC and consoles. And now, in April 17, 2025, he finally graces EA FC Mobile through the ongoing Pitch Beats event’s Icon Making Challenge.
EA FC Mobile rolled out Beckenbauer through the Icon Making Challenge, part of the ongoing Pitch Beats event. The final reward from the challenge is a 104 OVR Emerald Beckenbauer, an upgraded version of the base 100 OVR Icon, meaning it has already been boosted four levels. It can only be upgraded once more to 105, and considering that most top-tier squads globally now feature cards above 105 OVR, this Beckenbauer card might soon become more of a collectible or exchange fodder than a long-term starter. Fans can also expect higher-rated versions of Beckenbauer’s card in upcoming EA FC Mobile events, beyond the current 92 OVR base version and this 100 OVR Pitch Beats reward.
