Meera Chopra of Vaana fame has filed a complaint against the fans of Tollywood star Jr NTR for abusing and viciously trolling her on social media. She alleged that she had been harassed by Jr NTR fans since she said she doesn't know the actor and she's not a fan of him.
Meera Chopra, the cousin of Bollywood star
Priyanka Chopra, held a question-and-answer session with her fans on Twitter during which one fan asked her a question about Jr NTR.
The question was, "say something about Jr NTR". The actress replied saying, "I don't know him. I am not his fan."
Hence, the incident ended blowing up on social media with netizens trolling her about the same. The fans of Jr NTR got hurt by the answer and started abusing the actress with their derogatory comments. When trolls made abusive comments about the actress on twitter, Meera Chopra gave it back to him through a series of tweets and later also sought Hyderabad Police's help on social media.
Seeking the help, she wrote, "@NCWIndia @sharmarekha @hydcitypolice @Twitter plz take action against these account holders. They r #slutshamming threatening of #gangrape, #acidattack, #murder openly. This cannot go unnoticed."
She shared some of the abusive tweets:
Meera Chopra even tagged RRR actor for abusive trolling of his fans. In a series of tweets, she wrote, "@tarak9999 I didn't know that ill be called a bitch, whore and a pornstar, just bcoz I like @urstrulyMahesh more than you. And your fans will send my parents' such wishes. Do you feel successful with such a fan following? And I hope you don't ignore my tweet!!"
"Well I didn't know not being somebody's fan was a crime.. I want to say this aloud to all the girls that if you are not a fan of @tarak9999, you could be raped, murdered, gangraped, your parents could be killed as tweeted by his fans. They r totally spoiling the name of their idol."
She also shared the tweets of abusive cyberbullies.
Meera Chopra expressed her gratitude for supporting her in this brutal harassment. She thanked, "Thankyou each one of you for supporting me. Let's make this place safe for women and take down those losers who abuse and give death threats. Let's raise our voice against #womenabuse #rape #pedophilia #hooliganism."
She clarified why she tagged the Aravindha Sametha Veera Raghava actor. In another tweet, she wrote, "I have all respect for him as an actor. The only reason I am tagging him is bcoz he should know how his fans behave. And it's his responsibility to address them and ask them to refrain from such hooliganism."
Meera Chopra made her Tollywood debut with the Pawan Kalyan starrer Bangaram in 2006. She is also known for her Telugu films such as Vaana, Maaro and Greeku Veerudu. She will be next seen in a Telugu-Hindi bilingual film Mogali Puvvu.
