Mallika Sherawat on her reunion with Emraan Hashmi: 'I'd be thrilled to work with him again'

Mallika Sherawat has expressed her desire to collaborate once more with Emraan Hashmi, the co-star from their iconic film Murder, acknowledging the actor's growth as a father and a human being. The duo garnered immense popularity for their dazzling on-screen chemistry in Anurag Basu’s 2004 thriller, but their relationship was marred by a public feud that began shortly after the film's release.
Reflecting on their past misunderstandings in a recent interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Mallika said, "Of course, we were so young, silly, and stupid. You know, ego comes in the way." She also mentioned that external influences are often there in the film industry, which causes more trouble than good. Sherawat admitted that she had been misadvised during that time while saying, "He's a great guy. He's a wonderful human being. I have very pleasant memories of shooting with him, even the intimate scenes. He was a complete gentleman. He made me feel very safe and, you know, a woman likes to be appreciated in that way."
Despite all those earlier issues, Mallika still reiterates her desire to work with Emraan, this time focusing on his incredible journey as a father and his resilient ability. "I would be very thrilled to work with him again," she said, referring to his excellent work. The actors haven't acted together since Murder, so the prospect is more exciting for fans who have long followed the pair.
That animosity was brought out in the public in 2014 when Emraan made a controversial remark during an episode of Koffee With Karan. Talking about on-screen kisses, he called it the "worst" with Mallika as the kissing partner. This again played to the disfavour of him and of course the actress.
Mallika later revealed some of the playful disputes that occurred on the sets of Murder when they had stopped talking to each other because of misunderstandings related to their respective promotions.
Reflecting on those times, she admitted, "It was so uncalled for and so childish on my part also. I'm no less." Though they may have had their differences, Mallika's recent comments indicate that the past is behind them, and she would welcome the opportunity to work alongside Emraan Hashmi again. With their chemistry still etched in the minds of many, a potential collaboration could reignite the magic that first captivated audiences nearly two decades ago.
