Is the Cosmos, Universe in motion or is it stationery? The whole cosmos, taken as a unit, cannot move. In regard to what will it move? It cannot be said to change. With regard to what will it change? The universe as a whole is unchangeable, because motion or change is a relative thing. We can only think of something in motion in comparison with something which is not moving. There must be two things in order to understand motion.

So, the whole is the Absolute, Formless, One without a second (akela). But within it every particle, ‘We all, you, me, nature, everything’, is in a constant state of flux and change. It is unchangeable and changeable at the same time, Impersonal as a whole and Personal as individuals and things, which change and ultimately Re-gain (idea of religion and yoga) Oneness with whole. This is the conception of the universe, of motion and of God, and that is what is meant by You are That; I am you.

Our civilizational culture is based on the idea and ideal that as living-beings, Jiva-atman, our real changeless nature, identity, reality, i.e., our Swaroopa, is not just this changing body-mind but the Changeless Self, Consciousness. And as Self, we’re one, interconnected whole.

We always think of ourselves as limited individuals and it is very difficult for us to realise our own strength! Vedanta asks us to reflect and question, from where do I get all the knowledge that I have; and says, all power, knowledge comes from within us! It was always within us. Where is knowledge outside? Nowhere; Knowledge isn’t in matter; it was in man all the time: Know thy-Self; Kingdom of God is within us.

Of course, the idea looks impossible to believe; as it is against all we know, believe, perceive! And yet, it is our duty to learn and let people learn of the idea and ideal, that behind each of us, whosoever we may be, is the Ocean of Infinite divine power and blessedness, Ocean of Conscious Existence.

I have to willy nilly recognize that “I exist”. “And, that which exists can never cease to exist”. So, reason says, as conscious-existence we’re one and there is no death for any of us!

Awareness of this knowledge of our oneness with all as the Self, Âtman, is lost in the forests of religious scriptures, preaching, mythology, doctrines! Somehow, we must learn to hear of it day and night, introspect and continuously think of it, reflect on it, remind ourselves of it repeatedly.

With each karma, i.e., each ‘motive-action’, we have to decide whether they make for Separateness or Oneness. Since as Self we’re one, only selfless actions are the Cause that bind soul to soul and we experience the Effect of fulfilment, peace, bliss, ananda. We have to learn to watch the quality of thoughts and manage our responses and learn to act only if it leads towards love, care, concern for all! Howsoever low we may fall; a time comes when out of sheer desperation we are bound to awake and take an upward curve and learn to have faith in himself.

As Indians we alone have the wisdom of Vedanta and so it is our duty to spread the wisdom that working Ethically to Re-gain Oneness with all is the real Fruit of Religions! My vs your God and religion are of secondary importance!

We may not understand this idea; but all virtues are based on this fact. Let’s do good if we can, but let’s not injure the world. Religion is nothing more than the ideal of our Oneness with the universe and faith in one’s Conscious, divine Self.

All religions say my way is the only way for salvation! Vedanta alone says that each one must have his own path, but the path is not the goal. Various religions, sects, worship of a God in heaven, and all these things are not bad, but they are only steps towards the Truth and not the Truth itself.

All religions and faiths are good and beautiful, but the Vedanta says worship God in man because it is Life, Consciousness, God in each, that makes us exist, alive, conscious! Let’s Hear, Reflect, Imbibe the highest truth that “That whom we are worshipping as unknown and are seeking for, throughout the universe, is with us all the time. We live through That Consciousness, and He is the eternal singular Subject, witness of the universe. When He exists, we and the universe exist.

Consciousness, aka God, is the light and life of the universe. If the ‘l’ were not in us (to make us Conscious-Existence), we wouldn’t see the sun; there will be darkness. He shines in us as ‘I’ and we become conscious and see the world.

A doubt arises and a question crops up, won’t the thought that I am God, and whatever I do or think must be good; for God can do no evil, lead to a arrogance and evil! But the counter is, has the world been made much better by different religions and their worldview of separateness? Should we expect morality to be developed through fear or thru’ love and oneness like mothers love for her children, because of feelings of Oneness!

The ideal is when we see the changing names-forms; but recognize that as Conscious-Existence we’re One! Where one sees another, where one hears another, that is our basic ignorance because of our past memories and attachment to our mid, which separates and gives us our individuality!
