Watch: SNL mocks Kamala Harris for saying she grew up in a middle-class family

Rudolph’s version of Harris went on to explain that her mother had raised her and her sister, worked hard, and even saved enough to have a second mother figure, a small business owner named Ms. Shelton. However, Thompson, as Harvey, repeatedly tried to steer her back to answering the actual question about the glove box.
Watch: SNL mocks Kamala Harris for saying she grew up in a middle-class family

Saturday Night Live (SNL) once again poked fun at Vice President Kamala Harris during a "Family Feud Election 2024" skit on Saturday, focusing on her interview responses and her anecdotes about growing up in a middle-class family.
Kenan Thompson, portraying "Family Feud" host Steve Harvey, questioned Maya Rudolph, who played Harris, on why she wasn't leading in the polls by a large margin. Rudolph, as Harris, remarked that it was a question she often found herself shouting into her pillow each morning.
In the first question, Harvey asked the contestants to name something people might keep in their glove box. Rudolph, playing Harris, quickly buzzed in, but instead of answering directly, she started by talking about her upbringing in a middle-class family.
Saturday Night Live featured Maya Rudolph and Kenan Thompson in a skit on October 12, 2024, where Rudolph played Kamala Harris and Thompson took on the role of Steve Harvey.

The New York Times recently criticised Harris' interview on MSNBC for its "roundabout responses," which mirrored her portrayal in the skit.

Rudolph eventually gave her answer, saying she would keep a Glock in her glove box, referencing Harris' interview with 60 Minutes where she mentioned owning the gun. The "Family Feud" board confirmed that "a gun" was the second most popular answer.
Vice President Kamala Harris was also seen speaking at a campaign event in Arizona on October 10.
Thompson moved on to the other Democrats on Harris' team. Andy Samberg, playing Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan as Governor Tim Walz, and Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden, all joined in. Samberg's character, when asked the same glove box question, admitted that Harris' response was hard to beat and gave the same answer: a Glock. Thompson questioned the strategy, but the board then revealed "a second gun" as the top response.
The skit seemed to highlight criticism of Harris for often sidestepping questions and offering vague answers. In a recent interview, Philadelphia's 6 ABC anchor Brian Taff had asked her about her specific plans to lower prices for Americans, but Harris instead launched into a story about her upbringing as a "middle-class kid."
