'I am not joking': Donald Trump says he's considering ways to serve a third term as US president

US President Donald Trump has once again floated the idea of seeking a third term, stating in a televised interview that “I’m not joking” about the possibility.
Speaking to NBC News in a phone interview on Sunday, Trump claimed, “There are methods which you could do it,” while also adding that “it is far too early to think about it”.
The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution, ratified in 1951 after Franklin D Roosevelt's four-term presidency, explicitly limits a president to two elected terms.
However, when asked by NBC’s Kristen Welker whether one way to bypass this restriction could be through Vice President JD Vance running and later stepping aside, Trump responded, “Well, that’s one. But there are others too. There are others”.
When pressed to reveal another possible method, he simply said, “No.”
Trump has previously joked about serving more than two terms at Republican events.
According to the news agency AP, he teased House Republicans in January by asking, “Am I allowed to run again?” during a retreat. His latest comments, however, appear to be the most direct suggestion that he is actively considering ways to extend his time in office.
