Samantha Ruth Prabhu 'begged' Raj & DK to replace her in 'Citadel Honey Bunny' due to myositis diagnosis: 'I sent other recommendations'

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been open about various challenges that happened while shooting for 'Citadel Honey Bunny'. In an interview with Galatta India, the actress talked about how a diagnosis of myositis-an autoimmune disorder-had her wondering if she could continue on in the physically demanding action series. She even says that she asked directors Raj and DK to replace her in the film, even suggesting a couple of actresses play the role.
"I pleaded for them to go away because I really didn't think I could do it. I sent other recommendations, like 'See this heroine, she'll kill it.' I was not well and truly believed I wouldn't be able to handle it," Samantha shared.
They decided to stay with her even when she didn't believe in herself. Now, she is thankful the creators believed in her. "Watching the show now, I'm thankful they didn't make it without me," she says. "Even before the audience verdict is out, I am giving myself credit for pulling through."
Co-star Varun Dhawan was present at the trailer launch, singing praises for Samantha's grit. "I have never seen anything like this on a shoot. Watching her overcome these challenges taught us all about human strength. She inspired not just me but also Raj, DK, and the entire Amazon team," Varun said.
'Citadel Honey Bunny', highly anticipated spin-off of parent American series 'Citadel' starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, will air on 7 November on OTT.
