Fans of the psychological thriller 'You' can finally mark their calendars as the much-awaited fifth season has officially arrived.
According to a report by USA TODAY, the final season of the popular OTT series premiered on Thursday, April 24, at 3 a.m. ET / 12 a.m. PT. Viewers can now stream all ten episodes exclusively on Netflix.
The new season picks up three years after Joe Goldberg, played by Penn Badgley, left London with Kate, portrayed by Charlotte Ritchie. The couple has since returned to New York City, where Kate has become the CEO of the Lockwood Corporation. Meanwhile, Joe is seen living as her loyal husband and enjoying the spotlight as the public dubs him "Prince Charming." But it doesn’t take long for his dark past and hidden obsessions to catch up with him, threatening the new life he’s tried to build.
In an interview with Netflix's Tudum, co-showrunner and executive producer Michael Foley explained that they had always planned to conclude the story with Season 5. He said the team liked the idea of bringing Joe back to where it all started—New York. According to Foley, this final chapter explores how much Joe has changed since viewers first met him. At the heart of the story is the tension between who Joe used to be and who he has become.
The Season 5 cast includes both returning and new faces. Alongside Penn Badgley and Charlotte Ritchie, viewers will see Madeline Brewer playing Bronte, Griffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, and Anna Camp in dual roles as Raegan and Maddie Lockwood. Other cast members include Natasha Behnam as Dominique, b as Phoenix, Pete Ploszek as Harrison, Tom Francis as Clayton, and Nava Mau as Detective Marquez.
OTT released the official trailer for the final season on March 10, giving fans a glimpse of what’s in store. As Joe tries to keep his darker instincts under control and stay committed to doing good, the ghosts of his past keep pulling him back into trouble.
This final season aims to bring the story full circle while delivering suspense, drama, and the psychological tension that has made 'You' such a hit since it first premiered.
