Trending on the number two slot of a popular OTT platform is Sweet Tooth, which had the second season of the sci-fi fantasy, Emmy award-winning show debuting on April 27, last week. Fans of Season 1 were ecstatic and were busy tweeting about the characters that have reprised their roles in Season 2.
Brittany tweeted that “this show looks cute” adding that she thinks “it’s gotta go on the watch list.” The hybrid cast is creating a buzz and more than a couple of people tweeted that Amie Donald of M3GAN fame played three different hybrids in Season 1 and now plays Maya Monkey in Season 2.
Post-Apocalyptic world dramas have captured the imagination of script writers and viewers alike and this show continues to cash in on precisely that. The storyline is woven around a boy who is half-human and half-deer played by Christian Convery setting off on a perilous adventure in a post-apocalyptic world. Season 1 saw him bag several awards.
Critics had labelled the show’s first season as “emotionally engaging, superbly acted and incredibly entertaining”. The second show too satisfies the cravings of fantasy fans and has had ratings of an incredible 100 per cent from critics who have described it as moving, and capable of spinning real magic. Some have labelled it as their favourite series of this year.
Chris Vognar of Rolling Stone has said in a review: “The uninitiated might want to hit a recap before jumping in, but otherwise Sweet Tooth remains quite welcoming, the kind of thing you might watch with your adolescent. The series has a big heart….”
Jack Seale of Guardian says the “singular world of Sweet Tooth, (is) the pandemic dystopia drama the whole family can enjoy.”
Even its detractors did not have much to say beyond the fact that “it could be claustrophobic at times,” but overall, they described it “as a good season with a great final episode.”
