Expats: Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue and Ji-young Yoo to bring Janice Y. K. Lee's novel to life in 6-part series
The first-look images of Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue and Ji-young Yoo in the upcoming limited series 'Expats' is finally here! Prime Video on Thursday dropped the images of the six-part series based on the internationally best-selling novel The Expatriates, by Janice Y. K. Lee.
The Lulu Wang-directed series stars Academy Award-winning actor Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee, and Jack Huston in lead roles.
Set against the vibrant and tumultuous tapestry of 2014 Hong Kong, Expats centres on three American women—Margaret (Nicole), Hilary (Sarayu), and Mercy (Ji-young)—whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. The series interrogates privilege and explores what happens when the line between victimhood and culpability becomes blurred.

Expats will have the world premiere screening of its feature-length penultimate episode at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8.
The series is yet to get a release date and trailer but according to reports, the story is likely to be told in non-linear fashion. This only means that the show will have a movie-like episode which can be watched as a standalone part of the narrative.
Lulu Wang serves as a creator, director and writer for the series.
