Pearle Maaney debuts in Bollywood

Actress Pearle Maaney is at her house in Kochi, on a short break from the shoot of her debut Bollywood movie, thanks to the rains in Mumbai. She is all excited about sharing screen space with Abhishek Bachchan and Aditya Roy Kapoor in an Anurag Basu directorial. When we call for a chat, Pearle was sleeping off her ‘jet lag’. However, she says animatedly that she can still speak on her maiden Hindi film. “I am not at liberty to speak about the storyline of the film, but I can tell you that it is a dark comedy,” she says, adding that she is in love with the cast of the movie. “The film has a bunch of big talents, including Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Rohit Saraf,” she explains. About the movie, Pearle will only confirm that while rumours are abuzz about this being a sequel to Anurag Basu’s hit film Life in A Metro, it isn’t so. “It has a totally different story line and is an experimental film,” she says. Her first shot for the movie was with Abhishek Bachchan and she goes into effusive Pearle-mode. “He is a very chilled out person and is very down to earth. He used to call me ‘chachi’, which is aunty in Hindi; I kept correcting it to ‘chechi’,” she quips.
