Did you know Sanjay Dutt and Gracy Singh's marriage scene in 'Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.' was shot at a real wedding?

The 2006 movie 'Munna Bhai MBBS' which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani garnered a lot of appreciation back then. Till date, fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement of the third sequel of the film. But, not many know that in order to make the film on the budget, there were many scenes in the movie which were shot keeping in mind to cut the costs including filming the scene that saw Sanjay Dutt and Gracy Singh tying the knot at an actual wedding. Yes, you heard that right. The same has been mentioned in the newly-published memoir of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 'Unscripted'. In order to execute certain scenes of the film at a minimal cost, Chopra, who has developed a reputation for his cost-cutting tactics, filmed the marriage sequence featuring its lead pair at an actual wedding. This was done in order to cut the costs associated with creating a wedding set from scratch. Reportedly, the entire cast and crew of the film, including its two leads, reached an actual wedding set, congratulated the bride and groom, and waited until the very end. After all the guests exited the venue, the team put their plan into effect. Surprisingly, Sanjay Dutt bought the wedding clothes for himself and Gracy Singh at his own expense. That's how the wedding sequence featuring Gracy Singh and Sanjay Dutt in Munna Bhai MBBS came about. Earlier, it was revealed that Vivek Oberoi was first approached to play the role of Munna in the film. Vivek had confirmed the same in an interview. After getting recognised for his work in ‘Company’, Hirani offered him the film. He had also revealed that he had given his nod but he couldn’t be a part of it as he couldn’t adjust his shooting dates. The film eventually went to Sanjay and the rest is history. It went on to become a hit at the box office and also won National Award and several other awards including Filmfare Awards.
