It's no secret that
Mammootty was the first choice to play the lead in
Jeethu Joseph's hit movies such as Memories and Drishyam, before the filmmaker approached
Prithviraj and
Mohanlal, respectively. Now, the megastar has finally given the nod for Jeethu's upcoming project.
'We just finalised it a few days ago,' says the director. 'I had narrated the story to Mammukka and he liked it. He has agreed to do the movie, but we are yet to decide the dates.'
On the film, he says, 'It will be a thriller about the events that take place in a single day.
It will have an urban setting. Mammukka's won't be a larger-than-life character but a normal person the audience can relate to.'
Jeethu's next release will be the Prithviraj-starrer Oozham, which also has Neeraj Madhav, Balachandra Menon and Divya Pillai as part of the cast. Meanwhile, the director also has projects with Mohanlal, Prithviraj and one with
Dileep and Kavya Madhavan on the cards. 'I am working on the subjects. But nothing is finalised. I have to narrate the developed plot to the actors and they will have to like them before the projects take off,' he says.
Meanwhile, Mammootty's next project is a family drama-cum-thriller titled The Great Father. The movie, which is set to go on floors next week, is directed by debutant Haneef Adeni and has Sneha and Baby Anikha in prominent roles.
