Rakshith Gowda is back on small screen with the new soap opera —Yajamani. The actor was popular for playing Vijay Desai, a prominent character in the TV show Amruthavarshini. The show was on air for six years before it concluded about a year and a half ago.
Rakshith, who has been experimenting with acting assignments on the big screen as well as in a web series since then, says, “I was part of a Kannada film called Nanna Love Track.
It did not do as well as I had expected at the box office. The web series was a unique experience, and I hope to be able to do more of those. Signing up for Yajamani though, is like coming back home. The impact of the character I played in Amruthvarshini is such that it has remained etched in the audiences’ memory till today. People still recognise me as Vijay Desai, and I am happy that I was able to create such an impact. The content planned for Yajamani is extremely engaging and I believe we will be able to make a mark with that on the TV screen.”
For this show, Rakshith will be playing an NRI businessman called Akash Suryavamshi, who returns to his motherland after years. “The serial is made on a grand scale. The makers have used a chopper for an introduction scene. This scale of production is rare on the Kannada film screen. Akash is back in the country to buy over a particular property, which is not easily available. How he manages to get his way around makes the crux of this story,” says Rakshith, of the show which will also feature actress Sanathani in a pivotal role.
