Birthdays are bound to be a time when almost all of us miss being home, with our families. And one thing that makes this memory fonder is home made, mom-made food. On our special days, mothers try to make it extra special by adding their dose of love to our favourite food. Sharing one such memory is veteran actor
Sameer Dharmadhikari who is currently seen Ghar Ek Mandir - Kripa Agrasen Maharaja Ki.
On his birthday today, Sameer misses celebrating the special day with his late mother and yearns for delicacies she used to prepare for him.
Talking about this birthday, Sameer Dharmadhikari shares, “I was born and brought up in a traditional Maharashtrian family. For as long as I can recall, all my birthdays would start with Aai (mother) doing a small puja and applying tilak on my forehead. I would then seek her blessings and begin my day. The favourite part of my day, however, would be relishing the gulab jamun made by her. Aai would make a minimum of 100 gulab jamuns, and I would happily finish them in two days. I enjoyed this traditional way of celebration instead of the popular cake cutting, blowing candles ceremony or having a lavish party. Although she is not with us today, these memories and the taste of her gulab jamuns still stay fresh in my mind.”
Sharing his birthday plans for this year, Sameer adds, “It is a working birthday for me this year. Though I do not believe in meeting people on video calls, I will take aside some time to connect with my sister, wife, and children virtually this year. Continuing the Indian tradition of starting the day with a sweet delicacy to make it auspicious, my has prepare halwa, and I will, later in the day, order some chocolate pastries for my children.”
