After playing a mother in Ek Mahanayak – Dr BR Ambedkar and Doosri Maa,
Neha Joshi has now been roped in to play the mother in Atal. She will essay his mother, Krishna Devi Vajpayee. The show will explore the untold aspects of the late Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s childhood. It will highlight the formative years of the leader. Set against the backdrop of British colonial rule in India, the show will delve into the intricacies of his childhood, shedding light on the incidents, beliefs, and challenges he faced.
Revealing details about her character, Neha Joshi says, “I fall short of words to express how honoured I am to essay the significant role of Krishna Devi Vajpayee, young Atal’s mother.
Despite Krishna Devi’s profound passion for history and politics, she gracefully transitioned into a devoted supporter of her husband, Vajpayee Ji. Her life’s mission was to maintain harmony within her family and stand firmly behind her husband’s choices. With a rock-solid resolve and deep religious conviction, she silently opposes British colonial rule. She may not vocalise her views to the world, but she embodies a genuine desire to see her beloved country, India, break free.”

Dwelling deeper into Atal’s storyline, the actress adds, “The story will highlight young Atal’s relationship with his mother, who deeply influenced his beliefs, values, and thinking.”
On the personal front, Neha tied the knot with
Omkar Kulkarni, a writer, poet, and actor in the Marathi cinema, in August last year. The two met on the sets of a Marathi TV show a decade ago. Love blossomed five years later and organically. Talking to us about her low-key wedding on her big day, she said, “Marriage was a very private affair for me and so were all the functions around it. I kept it a very close and private affair because I have always wanted it like that. I wanted to keep it a simple Maharashtrian afternoon wedding with just the family and close friends in attendance.”
