Television actor
Aarya DharmChand Kumar, known for his work in
Jhanak and Pushpa Impossible, has shared his thoughts on the recent revisions made to the NCERT Class 7 history syllabus. The actor, who is also a father, says he welcomes the changes that shift focus toward Indian traditions and values in education.
Speaking exclusively to us, Aarya said, “I’m extremely happy with the decision regarding the historical representation in school textbooks. This update was long overdue. My son Aadidev is currently in 6th grade, and I’m glad that when he enters 7th, he’ll study what I believe is the required and significant history.”
The NCERT has reportedly removed chapters on the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal Empire from the Class 7 curriculum, while incorporating content that emphasizes
Indian dynasties, cultural traditions like the Mahakumbh, and references to present-day government initiatives. These changes aim to present history through a more locally-rooted and culturally-aligned lens.
Commenting further, Aarya said, “Promoting Indian culture and heritage through the inclusion of Indian warriors and Mahakumbh will help instill national pride. Learning about Indian dynasties, our Constitution, and development programs makes the subject more relevant for today’s generation.”
However, Aarya also emphasized the need for balance, noting the importance of understanding all facets of India’s rich past.
“I do feel that removing Mughal history entirely might leave a gap in understanding our diverse cultural heritage. So perhaps some references should be retained for a more complete picture,” he added.
Aarya, who has also been seen in shows like Chittod Ki Rani Padmini Ka Johur, Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, and Yeshu, concluded by saying that history, while evolving, should always aim to educate students with both pride and perspective.
