Speaking about the same, Shilpa told Times of India TV, "I got married in 2000 and my mother always believed that everything should happen at the right time because then you miss the boat. The entire life then you complain I couldn’t do this or that or I could have done this or that. So it was necessary for me to move on and the next step for a girl at 26-27 was marriage. I got married. I was very happy to leave the industry and get married."
She further added, "There was no regret, I used to always listen to what my mom used to say. I always felt whatever decisions she takes for me would be correct. The decision was to get married and I never wanted to leave India but as I said destiny always has some other plans. Mere destiny mein tha that I moved out of India and that’s the reason I couldn’t continue to work here. I moved completely to be a homemaker."
Shilpa gained popularity in the late 1980s and 1990s. She made her debut with Bhrashtachar (1989) and went on to star in several successful films, including Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), Hum (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992), and Gopi Kishan (1994).
