Amit Dolawat: I watched interviews of real life police officers to prepare for 'Dev 2'

How many of us would like to get calls from the police? Even the mention of cops makes many of us feel jittery, but Amit Dolawat, who plays Mumbai Crime Branch officer Amod Narwekar in 'Dev 2', was on cloud nine when he received calls from the Mumbai Police. The cops found his work on the TV show so good that they contacted the actor and praised him. Amit says, “Some of the Mumbai Police personnel looked me up on social media, found my number and contacted me, saying, ‘Tum bahut kadak kar rahe ho.’ In Mumbai, kadak means doing good.Even before this season started, some of the police personnel asked for pictures of my look. They asked me, ‘Tumhe Crime Branch ka officer banaya hai, dikhao kaise lag rahe ho’. It was so good to get calls from people who’d inspired me.”

Amit says that since childhood he has idolised the Mumbai Police. He adds, “I always wanted to be a police officer, and with this show, I was able to fulfill my childhood dream. Even to prepare for this role, I wasn’t inspired by any actor who’s played a cop on screen, I took inspiration from real-life police officers. I watched their interviews on YouTube and tried to emulate them.”
