Monika Singh, who was last seen in Bahut Pyaar Karte Hain and has done shows like Kulfi Kumar Bajewala and Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, shares how favouritism and unhealthy competition has been a part and parcel of the TV industry for a long time. She says "Favouritism exists in every field. Working in this industry for the last few years, I’ve seen how certain people are preferred over the others.
There are pros and cons to the every situation. Also, competition and favouritism are things which are beyond our control and so I have realised that there is no point focusing on it much."
Monika also shares why after doing an interesting role in Bahut Pyaar..., she has kept away from taking up any new projects. She says, “I got a few offers but didn’t settle for them because I didn't find a solid or challenging role. Around the same time, I was offered the Marathi series titled Tu Chal Pudhe, which was a challenge for me as it was a Marathi show. I believe in focusing more on quality rather than quantity. I also enjoy working at my own pace rather than working under pressure. So, it is better to accept roles, which will connect with audiences."
The actress says since TV shows have an ensemble cast, there are meaty roles for character actors. "The story may focus on the lead pair but the supporting actors are the ones who help complete the picture. I don't think that any show can run without the supporting actors. They are an important part of the story and I have been lucky to have bagged interesting roles," says the actress, who now also wants to focus on films and OTT.
