Gleb Savchenko speaks out about rumored breakup from Brooks Nader; "I was surprised to find out through the News"

Gleb Savchenko is clarifying things after word spread about a surprise split with Brooks Nader, a model. The 41-year-old Dancing with the Stars pro is now talking after news hit that the two had broken up over the weekend — and by his own account, the breakup was unexpected.
In a statement released to PEOPLE on Monday, April 7, Savchenko said he had no idea the relationship was over until he read the headlines. "I was surprised to hear through the news that Brooks has ended our relationship," he stated. "The last communication I had from her was a text on April 6th, requesting to talk. I called her today in response, but she hasn't returned the call."
Savchenko, who has been dating the 28-year-old Sports Illustrated swimsuit model since they met on season 33 of Dancing with the Stars in September 2024, told that their last encounter had been warm and affectionate. "The last time I saw Brooks was when I went to New York to support her and film an episode of her reality show on March 31st and April 1st," he explained. "She was upset to have me go, but I had to get back to DWTS in order to complete my four-month stint at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood."
Though surprising in its breakup, Savchenko stated that he's working to accept what has happened. "I'm still trying to figure everything out, and while I don't have all the answers, I wish Brooks well going forward," he continued.
But an earlier story on April 7 reported that a source informed PEOPLE that Nader had ended things after supposedly finding out that Savchenko had cheated on him. This isn't the first rough patch the couple has experienced — their relationship, while intense, has had prior breaks.
Though neither Nader nor her representatives have publicly commented, the differing accounts left fans in shock. As things settle down, one thing is certain: both are going through a very public breakup under extremely different spotlights.
