It’s already Shashti and the entire state is enjoying the festive mood. But actor
Jeetu Kamal is busy with his shoots. The actor said, “I am busy with Ardhangini’s shooting. We have shooting till late evening. I’m kind of used to it now.”
The actor is playing a doctor in the family drama ‘Ardhangini’, wherein he is paired opposite actress Nabanita Das.
The actor feels that the excitement of
Durga puja is missing now a days.
He said, “Durga puja has already started and I can’t find that kind of excitement anymore. Thanks to the online shopping portals, we buy clothes the entire year. So there is no excitement of buying new clothes. Almost the entire year, we celebrate one occasion or the other, so the city is full of lights. I can’t differentiate anymore.” Although, Jeetu’s childhood memories associated with Durga puja makes him nostalgic.
“During Durga puja I miss my childhood days. Things were really different then. I used to play hide and seek with my friends and the place under the stage (where Durga idols were kept) was my favourite spot for hiding,” Jeetu went nostalgic sharing about his memories.
The actor spent his childhood in Belgachia and he used to visit the Durga puja pandal near Tala park with his friends. Another thing that he really misses is the cap gun firecrackers.
Jeetu said, “There were cap gun firecrackers which I loved most. I used to get money from my parents and grandmother and gather at least Rs.70-80. And with that money I used to feel like a king. Those days were full of innocence.”
But every year Jeetu follows one thing quite religiously- meeting his childhood friends. The actor never misses a chance to be with his friends despite his busy shoot schedules. He said, “I have 3 friends, who are now posted in different parts of India. But during Durga puja, they visit Kolkata and we all have a blast. The late night cravings to long adda sessions, my puja days are safe with them.”
Jeetu shared how his friends never miss a chance to pull his legs during their outings. He said, “They never miss a chance to pull my legs when anyone approaches me for a selfie. Sometimes they embarrass me by calling me with weird names. But I enjoy those moments. Moment spent with them give me the strength to survive throughout the entire year till I meet them again.”
