Samsung has confirmed that the company will launch a new premium smartwatch. Recently, the South Korean smartphone maker announced its Q1 2024 results.
In the financial report, the company revealed that it will launch a new premium smartwatch model which will join the Galaxy Watch 7 series. “For smartwatches, the MX Business will strive to meet demand for upgrades through the launch of new premium models,” mentions the company.
Although the report didn't specify the exact release date or offer further details, it mentions that the desired upgrades requested by users will be incorporated into the higher-end models.
Recent online rumours suggest that Samsung may launch three models of the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series. The company is expected to launch Galaxy Watch Ultra and a more affordable Galaxy Watch FE and Galaxy Watch 7.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra, purportedly succeeding the rumoured but yet-to-be-confirmed Galaxy Watch 7 Pro, is poised to become Samsung's most advanced smartwatch thus far. Anticipated to boast a larger 578mAh battery identified by the model number EB-BL705ABY, it represents a substantial improvement over preceding Galaxy Watch iterations.
Accompanying the Ultra will be the upcoming Galaxy Watch FE (FE likely standing for 'Fan Edition'). Following a similar approach to Apple's strategy with the Apple Watch Ultra and Watch SE, the Watch FE will cater to budget-conscious consumers seeking a smartwatch option from Samsung.
Expected to share various features with Samsung's Galaxy Watch4 from 2021, the Watch FE will be available in SM-R866F (global), SM-R866U (US), and SM-R866N (Korea) models. With the introduction of the Watch FE, Samsung aims to broaden the accessibility of its smartwatch ecosystem to a more diverse audience.
