Google is experimenting with a new feature that could change how users interact with recipe search results. The "Quick View" button, currently being tested on select recipe queries, allows users to view full recipes directly on the search results page without visiting the original website.
When searching for recipes, some users are now seeing a "Quick View" option overlaid on recipe thumbnail images. Clicking this button reveals the complete recipe, including ingredients, step-by-step instructions, and photos, all within Google's search interface.
The feature was first spotted and reported by Search Engine Roundtable. A Google spokesperson told Search Engine Roundtable, "We're always experimenting with different ways to connect our users with high-quality and helpful information. We have partnered with a limited number of creators to begin to explore new recipe experiences on Search that are both helpful for users and drive value to the web ecosystem."
The company emphasised that this is a limited trial, with agreements in place with participating recipe creators. However, the extent of these partnerships and any potential compensation for content usage remains unclear.
This development follows other recent Google initiatives aimed at providing more information directly in search results, such as AI-powered overviews and featured snippets.
Google has not announced any plans for a wider release of the Quick View feature at this time.
