The 1995 Game Boy title Donkey Kong Land has been added to the Nintendo Switch Online service. Originally released by Nintendo and Rare in June 1995, Donkey Kong Land is a 2D platformer inspired by the Donkey Kong Country trilogy. The game features Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong as they work to replenish the Kongs' banana hoard after it is stolen by King K. Rool.
Donkey Kong Land features 30 levels across four worlds and is considered one of the best titles in the Donkey Kong series. It spawned two sequels, released in 1996 and 1997.
The release of Donkey Kong Land on the Nintendo Switch Online service comes shortly after the 30th anniversary of the SNES classic Donkey Kong Country.
Nintendo has also released a new gameplay trailer showcasing Donkey Kong Land running on the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy app.

Donkey Kong Land on Nintendo Switch Online: How to access
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now enjoy Donkey Kong Land via the Game Boy app. To access this classic title, ensure your Switch console is connected to the internet. The Game Boy app should update automatically, adding Donkey Kong Land to the available games.
If the update doesn't happen automatically, you can manually update the app:
- Open the Options menu for the Game Boy app.
- Scroll down to "Software Update."
- Select "Update via Internet."
Once updated, the system will confirm your Nintendo Switch Online subscription and grant you access to Donkey Kong Land. This release comes as an unexpected bonus, following another Switch Online service update earlier in November.
