Portronics Power Plus: Key highlightsThe Portronics Power Plus houses a 2000-mAh battery and is easy to set up. It needs to be connected between a 12-volt (DC) Wi-Fi router and the main power outlet. The Power Plus will supply power from the mains to the Wi-Fi router via one of two standard connectors—2.1mm and 5.5mm DC pin.
The company claims that the moment there is a power outage or voltage fluctuations, the Power Plus’ battery will instantly kick in to keep the Wi-Fi functional for up to four hours.
Apart from this, Power Plus also comes with built-in safety features to protect both the router and itself from overcharging and under-voltage situations following power outages. This device can be used in both home and office setups.
Rise in power demand can be a concern
India’s power demand has reached an all-time high of 250 GW (gigawatts). The country’s consumption has increased by 4% increase since last week when it first hit 240 GW. This surge comes as a heat wave continues to affect large parts of the country.
As per government data, the northern and western regions, where temperatures have soared to record levels, recorded unprecedented demand of 86.7 GW and 74.8 GW, respectively.
A LocalCircles survey from May 2023 claimed that 85% of Indian households face power outages every day while 37% of them face 2-8 hours of outage daily.
