Former World Heavyweight Champion and one of the most popular WWE superstars of the 2010’s, Batista(aka Dave Bautista) is now a certified Hollywood superstar, after having retired from WWE in 2019. Recently, while promoting his new movie ‘Killer’s Game’, Dave has opened up about his WWE career and in particular the reason for him leaving WWE in 2010, to be able to pursue his acting career.

About his Career
Batista is now retired from WWE after his last match against his former buddy and current COO of WWE, Triple H. While promoting his new Hollywood project Killer’s Game, Batista gave an interview on Chris Van Vliet’s “Insight” podcast. He gave several anecdotes about his WWE and Hollywood career but the one thing that got everyone's attention was his reason to leave WWE in 2010, as he was one of the biggest superstars at that point of time and easily could have had five more years under his belt as a regular member of the WWE. Notably, Batista abruptly ended his association with WWE in 2010, to shift his attention to Bollywood only to make sporadic appearances thereafter.

Batista's reason to quit in 2010
When asked about current WWE superstars being allowed to act in Hollywood, Batista was full Of praise for company COO Triple H, but also exclaimed that the same wasn't the case for him in 2010.“Things have changed a lot. Hunter’s, I think Hunter’s changed the company in a lot of great ways, but he is very open minded to letting people do stuff outside of the company, because he really understands that the bigger the star they become, more attention they bring back to WWE, which is a great thing. Where I think in the past, it was just kind of the opposite, everything, want to keep everything contained, everything, every money in house, which is why I ended up leaving the company, because I wasn't afforded the opportunity to do stuff outside of the company.” said Batista, while explaining his own situation in 2010

Clearly, “The Animal” was talking about former WWE CEO Vince McMahon not allowing him and other superstars to do anything outside of WWE, which would actually help both the superstar and the WWE with the fan following and attention that it could bring. Interestingly, a current WWE superstar Drew Mcintyre is also a part of Batista’s movie Killer’s Game and he is going to play the antagonist to Dave. Which Dave Bautista movie do you like the most?
