Dressed in a green traditional Manipuri skirt, paired with a lemon yellow jamdani dupatta, Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu headed to the Times Food and Nightlife Awards (TFNA) right after her routine training for the day.
The weightlifter, who prefers not to meddle with her diet at all, made an exception and enjoyed some golgappas. She tells us, “Mujhe pizza bahut pasand hai. I love pesto pizza. After every successful tournament, I treat myself to a pizza. Not just a few slices, main poora pizza bhi kha sakti hoon (laughs).” Ask her about her wellness mantra, and she says, “I start my day at 6am with warm water, soaked nuts drizzled with honey. I am very strict with myself when it comes to the food I eat because I need to maintain my weight for upcoming tournaments. It is important to eat clean and healthy for longevity. Achhi life jeeni hai toh junk food nahi khana chahiye. There are many healthy food options that one can choose from.”

Mere liye yeh ek naya experience tha: Mirabai on attending TFNA
Talking about her experience, she says, “Mere liye yeh ek naya experience tha. Whenever I attend events, I only get to meet sportspersons, but at TFNA, I met people from all walks of life. Mujhe bahut achha laga.”
