Connor Bedard is again trending, but not for his play on the ice. The last time the young NHL sensation took over the news cycle was for his exciting overtime goal against the Utah Hockey Club on March 7. His current moment in the spotlight, though, is the result of a mysterious Instagram post that has people wondering what's next for him with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Connor Bedard’s mysterious Instagram post sparks controversy

Earlier today, Bedard uploaded a picture of himself celebrating his overtime goal against Utah, with a single home emoji in the caption. The simple post has left Blackhawks fans in an uproar, as many speculate if he is expressing his dedication to Chicago or hinting at his departure soon.
Some fans believe that Chicago Bulls star Bedard is not going anywhere, as he is a key part of the team's youth movement and is not going anywhere. Others interpret this post as a sign of Bedard's readiness to break free, as he is looking for a new home and is unhappy with his current team. Some fans believe Bedard is looking for a better opportunity to improve his team.
Fans immediately filled the comments with posts begging him to stay with the team. One Instagram user posted, "Anyway, please stay for Chi." Another just commented, "Please stay."
But not everyone was so positive. Some started speculating that Bedard was not happy in Chicago and could be looking to move. One wrote, "It's okay, we know you don't like it there," and another made a direct statement: "That's not your home."

A rocky season for Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks

Bedard has also taken flak from his on-ice output of 17 goals in 65 games and as the 105th scorer in the league. His current show, a paltry single goal in 11 games, drew flak from fans and critics. The Blackhawks have not had more than 40 victories in a season in the past eight years, and some think Bedard is the answer to turn that around. Contract rumours also abound, with Bedard in the final season of his three-year, $13.35 million rookie contract, which means he could be traded or awarded Chicago's home.

What's next for Connor Bedard?

Without any official word from Bedard or the Blackhawks, all anyone can do is make guesses on what his Instagram post is saying. Will he stay in Chicago and assist in rebuilding the franchise, or is he gearing up to make a move elsewhere? Only time will tell in a matter of months.
