Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has been criticized for his postgame interaction with fans during a 20-16 win against the Cleveland Browns. Some NFL media members have rebuked him, but ESPN analyst Jason Kelce, who was hired by the Eagles, defended Sirianni as a person but called his behavior "inappropriate" given the situation. Sirianni reportedly reacted angrily after hearing booing and chants about his firing.

Jason Kelce defends Nick Sirianni

Jason Kelce, former Eagles center, defended his former head coach Nick Sirianni after a recent disagreement with home fans, expressing his support during the Monday Night Football pregame show for the Bills and Jets. “He’s passionate,” Kelce said. “He loves his guys, he loves his team ... Obviously he knows that was not the right way to handle that situation, and everybody knows it, that was inappropriate. But this is a guy that knows that his energy is going to feed the football team. And the team said that in their postgame interviews, Brandon Graham said we need the Nick Sirianni back.”
He continued, “That energy, even though it comes out in the wrong ways sometimes like at the end of that game—and I am a victim of that myself, trust me I am very happy there has not been a camera on me sometimes either at the game or after the game—if that is going to get the best out of him, that emotional energy that he can then infuse into other people, I’m all for it.”
After the Eagles' win over the Browns, Eagles quarterback Sirianni was caught yelling at fans behind the team's sideline, reportedly putting a finger to his ear. “I can’t hear you”, he said. Despite a home win against Cleveland, the Eagles struggled to generate offensive rhythm. Quarterback Jalen Hurts connected with star wide receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith for touchdowns, and Philly eventually closed out the game against a tough Browns defense.
The Eagles, led by Sirianni, have started the season with a 3-2 record, with fans eagerly anticipating significant improvements following Philadelphia's disappointing 2023-24 campaign.
