Buccaneers sign ex-Lions CB Kindle Vildor in new deal

Tampa Bay isn’t sitting back when it comes to strengthening its defense. With the competition heating up in the NFC South, the Buccaneers have made a strategic move to bolster their secondary. In an effort to solidify their defensive backfield, the Buccaneers have signed former Detroit Lions cornerback Kindle Vildor to a one-year contract. His agents confirmed the agreement to ESPN's Adam Schefter, signaling a key move for Tampa Bay ahead of the upcoming season.
Kindle Vildor, who spent last season with the Lions, proved to be a durable asset on an otherwise injury-plagued defense. Playing all 17 games, he provided crucial depth and versatility. Though he started just two games, he was a consistent contributor, logging 22 percent of the Lions’ defensive snaps and nearly half (48 percent) of their special teams snaps. His ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game makes him a valuable pickup for the Buccaneers.
Originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Kindle Vildor has steadily carved out a role as a dependable rotational piece. During his time with Chicago, he gained starting experience and showcased his ability to match up against top receivers. After his stint with the Bears, he briefly joined the Tennessee Titans before finding a home in Detroit.
Now, in Tampa Bay, Kindle Vildor has the opportunity to further prove his worth. With the Buccaneers aiming to tighten their pass defense, his experience in different defensive schemes and adaptability to special teams could provide an immediate boost. His signing aligns with the Bucs’ strategy of adding depth and competition to the secondary, which will be critical as they prepare for another grueling season.
