Magic Johnson praised the high-octane Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics showdown
Magic Johnson has been quite vocal about his likings, especially his favorite games, NBA athletes, and other aspects of the league. The NBA Hall of Famer recently watched the high-octane Cleveland Cavaliers vs Boston Celtics showdown on February 28 and shared his honest thoughts on the matchup.
Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum has earned earnest praise for the former Lakers legend as he added 46 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists. He also showered praise for Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell. Speaking of the game, Johnson wrote, “The Cavaliers beat the Celtics 123-116 in tonight’s game, which was a game of halfs. Jayson Tatum did something that no other NBA player in history has done scoring 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in the first half but the second half was all Donovan Mitchell!”
In another post, he extended his excitement of the game, adding up his praise for Mitchell. “In the Celtics vs. Cavaliers game, Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell was superb and finished with 41 points. 🤯He got a lot of help in the 4th quarter from Evan Mobley who had a 17 point, 12 rebound double-double and did most of his damage in the 4th quarter.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers extended their scorching nine-game winning streak, claiming their position as the best team in the NBA (49-10).
Donovan Mitchell was the driving force behind Cleveland’s rally, delivering a stunning 41-point performance, including 26 in the second half. The All-Star guard took control in the clutch, sinking a crucial floater to break a 114-114 tie.
Darius Garland chipped in with 20 points, helping Cleveland notch its seventh straight road win as their team continued dominance away from home.
Despite a season-best 46-point, 16-rebound, nine-assist effort from Tatum, the Celtics fell short for the second consecutive game. Tatum put up an incredible 19-of-37 shooting performance, but the absence of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday proved costly.
