Dennis Rodman and Trinity Rodman: A Broken Bond That Never Healed

Trinity Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, shares the challenges of growing up without her father's support. Despite her success in soccer, Trinity describes feeling abandoned and disappointed by his absent parenting, compounded by his insincere public gestures and delayed apologies.

Dennis Rodman is a five-time NBA champion, a Hall of Famer, and one of the greatest defenders the league has ever seen. His daughter, Trinity Rodman, is one of the brightest young stars in women’s soccer. They share athletic genes. That’s about it.
Trinity doesn’t call him a father. She calls him selfish. She grew up watching him from a distance—more on TV than in real life. He missed the games, the birthdays, the struggles. He showed up when the cameras did.
In December 2024, Trinity went on Call Her Daddy and made it clear: Dennis Rodman was not a dad to her.

Trinity Rodman’s childhood: More survival than support

Dennis Rodman and Michelle Moyer had two kids together—Dennis "DJ" Rodman Jr. in 2001 and Trinity Rodman in 2002. They married in 2003. By 2004, Moyer filed for divorce. By 2012, it was finalized.
After that, Rodman’s involvement in his kids' lives was barely there.
Trinity, DJ, and their mother moved constantly. At one point, they lived in a car. Rodman wasn’t paying child support, and their lives reflected that.
"That was all the fight was ever about, in front of us at least. It was just the money party and helping your children," Trinity said in 2024.
At the time, Rodman was making millions. He wasn’t spending it on them. A court later ordered him to pay Moyer $500,000 in back child support. By then, the damage was done.

Dennis Rodman showed up when there was a crowd, not when it mattered

Trinity Rodman saw her father only a few times a year. Every meeting was the same:
"It was my mom being valid and ‘What the f— are you doing? Help us and help your children.’”
But then, in 2021, something changed. Trinity was playing a playoff game for the Washington Spirit in her rookie season. She looked up and heard his voice.
"I’m like, ‘Oh my f—ing gosh, like, there’s no way this is happening right now.’ Mind you, I haven’t seen him in or talked to him in months."
She cried right there on the field.
"You took this happy moment for me, like, you f—ed with my head again."
After the game, Dennis Rodman hugged her in front of the cameras. A picture-perfect father-daughter moment. Trinity posted about it, thinking maybe this time, things would change.
It didn’t.

The Instagram apology Dennis Rodman wrote years too late

In 2024, Trinity Rodman said she had "lost hope in ever getting him back."
Dennis Rodman responded publicly, posting a long message on Instagram:
"Sorry I wasn’t the dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still try and never will stop. I will keep trying even when you’re being told as an adult not to respond to my phone calls."
Trinity Rodman wasn’t impressed.
"Wiping my hands with it. I’m done. Thank you," she posted on her Instagram Stories.
She wasn’t looking for an apology. She was looking for a father.
