Dana White made a series of major announcements, unveiling the headlining fights for the upcoming
UFC 314 and UFC 315 events. The organization is set to deliver thrilling matchups, including a new featherweight title fight and a welterweight championship showdown.
Dana White made a huge UFC 314 announcement
Scheduled to take place in Miami, UFC 314 will feature a major shake-up in the featherweight division. Former champion Ilia Topuria has decided to vacate his title, prompting a showdown between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes for the now-undisputed featherweight belt.
“Topuria has felt like he’s done all he can in that division, and he feels like he’s cemented his legacy, and his body cannot make the weight anymore,” White announced. “So Topuria will be moving up to 155 pounds and will be vacating the featherweight title. As soon as the first punch is thrown in [Volkanovski vs. Lopes], the title is vacated.”
Adding to the excitement, fans will also see Paddy Pimblett take on Michael Chandler in a high-stakes five-round co-main event. Additionally, Bellator legend Patricio Pitbull will make his UFC debut against Yair Rodriguez, further bolstering the stacked card.
Belal Muhammad will defend his welterweight title and he will take on Jack Della Maddalena in a highly anticipated fight.
