“I deserve it, and I’m ready!” - Jean Silva urges Dana White for a featherweight title bout after UFC 314

Jean Silva, riding a five-fight UFC win streak, is aggressively campaigning for a title shot against Alexander Volkanovski. Fresh off his UFC 314 victory over Bryce Mitchell, Silva highlighted his impressive finishing record and victories over diverse opponents. He argues his resume surpasses that of other contenders, directly appealing to Dana White and UFC matchmakers.

With an MMA record of 16-2-0, Jean Silva is on a 5-fight winning streak since his debut within the UFC. All of his wins came from a finish in each of the bouts. Competing within the featherweight division of the promotion, the fighter’s recent win was against Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314. It was one of the most anticipated cards of the event. Right after the success, Silva took to his social media account on X, presenting his case in front of the UFC officials like Dana White, Hunter Campbell and Sean Shelby for a title run against Alexander Volkanovski.

Brazilian fighter Jean Silva eyes for a title run after defeating Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314

Before qualifying for UFC via the Dana White Contender Series in 2023, Jean Silva was part of promotions like AFC, Blackout, MTK and others. Throughout his career in MMA, the fighter has incurred only two losses, against Pedro Henrique and Gabriel Schlupp de Lima. Since his debut in the UFC, Silva has not faced any defeat and has maintained his winning streak even at UFC 314 after defeating Bryce Mitchell.
Shortly after the win, Silva posted on X, eyeing for his next potential bout, specially at a title run. He wrote, “I don’t think anyone is going to give me anything. If it’s not a title shot, then it better be a fight that puts me right there. But let’s look at the facts - Volk said he wants to stay active and face the best in the division. I’ve already proven that I deserve it and that I’m the best. Diego Lopes got a title shot with 5 wins and 1 loss, with 2 of those wins by decision, while I have 5 wins- all by finish. This is the fight that makes sense. I deserve it, and I’m ready!”

The fighter continued to highlight some of the greatest feats that he achieved while maintaining his winning streak within the division.
“I faced the biggest knockout artist at Lightweight and knocked him out. I took on one of the best grapplers in the division and submitted him. I beat a guy who had never been knocked out - and I knocked him out. And I also faced a multi-time world kickboxing champion - and knocked him out, too. If I don’t deserve a title shot, I don’t know who does. I trust the UFC, Dana White, Hunter, and Sean Shelby. I’m ready for whatever they decide.”

Despite the proposition, it is quite unclear as to who the next title contender will be. Russian fighter Movsar Evloev forwarded his name for a title shot as well at the International Fight Week. With fighters in line, Silva might have to wait and fight other top contenders of the division before finally securing a title bout within the division.
