Waylay, a recent addition to Valorant, offers a unique mix of mobility and crowd control, Waylay is made into a versatile duelist for aggressive plays by these very qualities. To truly master Waylay, you have to nail down her speed, positioning, and ability synergy. She performs well on small maps like Bind, Ascent, and Icebox, but she tends to struggle in wide-open areas—maps like Breeze and Abyss—wherever her mobility and self-care abilities are less effective. Here are a few strategies that can help guide you toward maximizing Waylay's abilities and enhance your gameplay.

Mastering The Movement

Waylay's positioning is her strongest skill. The Light Speed skill gives her two dashes, one vertically and the other horizontally. In order to properly utilize this, practice canceling her dashes together. First, use her vertical dash to gain or clear high ground. Immediately after your ascend, use your horizontal dash to burst out of the area, confusing enemies. You will then be able to get across the ground really fast while being unpredictable to your enemies.

Convergent Paths speeds her up while clearing multiple angles and gives great advantages while taking or retaking sites. If you time it correctly, you can gain an advantage over your enemies, especially while pushing or holding key positions.

Control Space with Saturate

Saturate is Waylay's method of clearing out enemies from corners or stopping them from peeking particular angles. Use this ability in combination with Light Speed to confuse enemies and put them in an uncomfortable position. That could mean that, after dashing into an area and activating Saturate to pressure enemies into a retreat, you quickly follow to secure the kill or control the space. That combo puts a great deal of pressure on your enemies and will allow your team to gain territorial advantages.

Playing With Your Teammates

Waylay can work well alone, fighting off any one-on-one dueler, but she strikes best when paired with other agents. For example, when playing with Raze, you can have an incredibly effective duelist duo by quickly rushing sites and clearing enemies together. Alternatively, controllers like Omen or Viper can give protection to Waylay during her aggressive plays, so that she can push without too much worry for the aftermath.

It follows, too, that pairing Waylay with initiators-primarily Breach or KAY/O-give that powered hit combo for Waylay. These agents have ways of setting up space for Waylay, whereby killing becomes easy while committing aggressions.
Waylay really shines when she can lead the charge into sites. However, most full-on aggressive pushes require teammates beneath you. Soloing is more often than not a sudden surprise catch. Always speak with your teammates so that you’re not going in alone.
To master Waylay in Valorant requires training in mobility and timing, assimilating with the abilities of her teammates. Use her, on tight maps, to push through an enemy at speed and with precision; Waylay will rumble when done properly.
