Certain Pokemon can have unique combinations of backgrounds based on their forms and fusions:
- If a Trainer catches a Zekrom or Reshiram with a special background and then fuses it with a Kyurem that has an opposite background, the resulting fused Pokemon (Black Kyurem or White Kyurem) will possess its own unique variant background.

- Road to Unova Event: Running from February 26 to March 1, 2025, this event allows Trainers to catch eligible Pokemon in five-star raids, which may feature the special backgrounds.
- Pokemon GO Tour: Unova - Global: Scheduled for March 1-2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time, this global event continues the opportunity to catch Pokemon with special backgrounds in five-star raids.
