The other name of this event is Chhath Shraddha. While not performing shradh ceremonies can have dire consequences on the families, performing them is the key to happiness and prosperity in families. Therefore a lot of Hindus take active interest in performing the shardh ceremonies during Pitru Paksha.
Importance of Pitru Paksha Shradh
Auspicious acts give double benefits when performed during the special occasions. This is very much true with the Pitru Paksha shradh since it is the special time for getting the blessings of the ancestors in multiple measures. This is because from Pitru Lok, the ancestors visit their descendants on the earth during this period to receive their offerings. These are also called as Parvan Shraddhas. The right times to perform the shradh during this period are either Kutup Muhurt or Rohina Muhurt before the Aparahna Kala (Post Meridian) time gets over.
