One of the most important and colorful Hindu festival is Navratri, a nine-night celebration devoted to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine divine manifestations. This day celebrates the victory of good over evil, represented by the defeat of the demon Mahishasura by Goddess Durga. Each form of the goddess, is worshipped on each day of Navratri. Chaitra Navratri 2025: SignificanceThe nine-day of Navratri festival, which fall in the month of Chaitra is known as Chaitra Navratri that honors Goddess Durga and her nine incarnations, or the Navdurga. In many parts of India, it is the start of the Hindu New Year and occurs during the month of Chaitra (March–April). According to the Vikram Samvat calendar, signifies the start of a new year. During these nine days, shows gratitude to Goddess Durga and her nine forms for wisdom, strength, and protection. Since the birth of Lord Rama (Ram Navami) occurs on the last day, represents the triumph of good over evil. Devotees get into meditation, prayer, and fasting that promotes spiritual growth and positive energy.
Chaitra Navratri 2025: Puja VidhiOn the first day of Navratri, devotees perform Ghatsthapana first. This is the first day of Maa Shailputri and devotees offer prayers to the Goddess. Clean the space where people want to set up an altar and place an idol of Goddess Durga, place a Kalash and coconut on that Kalash. Light a diya with desi ghee in front of the Goddess. Offer Shringar items to the Goddess and invoke the idol of Maa Durga by chanting Mantras. Recite Durga Saptashati, hindu sacred text. Devotees obserbe fast whole day and then in the evening, they have some fruits and liquid, some devotees eat kuttu poor, aloo ki sabzi, fried potato etc. Make sure the food is prepared with cleanliness and with rock salt.
