TOISA returns for 6th edition, sports stars to be honoured on February 23

NEW DELHI: India's top sporting stars will be under one roof at the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) 2023, which will be held in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow, on February 23, 2024.
Honouring the top Indian athletes and their relentless pursuit for excellence in the assessment period January 1 to December 31, 2023, the list of award winners was drawn by the eminent TOISA 2023 Jury chaired by Adille Sumariwalla, who heads the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and is the vice-president of World Athletics.
Besides the team awards, there are over 170 individual nominees across 23 regular sports and 10 para sports categories, in the 2023 edition of TOISA that will once again have #MoreSweatMoreGlory as its theme.
The Jury Meet to decide the winners was held on February 1 in Delhi.
Under the chairmanship of Adille, the TOISA 2023 Jury comprises of former long-jumper and senior vice-president of AFI, Anju Bobby George; badminton coach and two-time Padma awardee Pullela Gopichand; Olympic medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt; Olympic medallist shooter and Indian Olympic Association vice-president Gagan Narang; Paralympic medallist and Padma Shri awardee Deepa Malik; Olympic medal-winning weightlifter Karnam Malleswari; and Zafar Iqbal, member of India's gold medal-winning hockey team at the 1980 Olympics.
In celebrating the achievements of both past and present Indian sports icons, TOISA endeavors to cultivate the future of sports in India, fostering an environment where aspiring youngsters are encouraged to pursue their dreams.
“Ever since its inception, TOISA has been committed to recognising the incredible talent of our emerging and seasoned sportspersons. This year too, we are back with yet another exciting edition of the awards. With categories spanning different sports and an illustrious jury panel, it’s our endeavour to celebrate the best of Indian sports and para sports at this year’s TOISA,” said Prasad Sanyal, Business Head, Times Internet, while talking about the significance of TOISA 2023.
