Masaba Gupta presented Chhaini meaning ‘net’ where the chhaini played the role of the ‘purdah’ in her ensembles. The idea was not to give away the beauty of the garment in a moment but to slowly unveil it. The colours palette comprised canary yellow, rani pink, black and white polished with bottle green and deep aqua. Silhouettes were flowy with layers, rustic and consumer friendly with the ‘pocket sari’ making a comeback this season.
The embroidery was hand worked with geometric motifs in shocking pink threads boiling down to pearls. You saw everything from light crushed mul and net jackets, unusual drapes to the pocket sari and ultimately the Anarkali which you could even wear to the beach. And there was a nice touch in the beginning of the show with the models emerging from seats in the audience.
