LOHTAKI, HARYANA: Giant machines whir away as they pave the way for the country’s longest expressway connecting the national capital with the financial capital Mumbai which will bring the two metros closer by 12 hours.
At this nondescript village, among the hundreds dotting the entire stretch on either side, work is proceeding at a furious pace on the planned 1,350 kilometres expressway. At some places, technicians toil under the scorching sun on the Delhi-Dausa stretch putting the finishing touches to several bridges and culverts that are springing up to enable a smooth ride. Truckloads of soil make their way to lay the foundation for the 8-lane expressway which will cut across five states — Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
