MUMBAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had sent Sheena Bora’s signature and some documents bearing her signature for handwriting analysis and have now found that their suspicions were right. Two days before it submitted its chargesheet against Indrani Mukerjea, Sanjeev Khanna and Shyamwar Rai in the Sheena murder case, a Central Forensic Science laboratory in New Delhi concluded that a signature mark of S Bora was made by Kajal Sharma, who was Indrani’s assistant.

Sharma is a witness in the case.
The chargesheet lists her at number 3, after Rahul and Gautam Mukerjea - Peter Mukerjea’s son and brother respectively, in the chargesheet. There are 11 pages of her statement in it.
The CBI has annexed the handwring examination analysis report from the Delhi laboratory to the chargesheet.
The lab said it received the case under reference on October 20, November 2,5,6 and 13. An expert with the laboratory, a senior scientific officer examined the 24 samples of handwriting and signatures submitted to the lab.
One of it was a carbon copy sample and one was a ‘reproduced copy’. The original and accepted signature of Sheena were also submitted for comparison analysis.
The lab uses video spectral comparator and twin video comparator and magnifying glass, and applies the laid down principles of handwriting examination.

The result, it said, was that the “authorship of the questioned English signature could not be connected with the writer of the admitted English writings/ signatures attributed to Sheena Bora."
The two signatures differed in detailed execution as well as in “their minute and inconspicuous characteristics features."
Some of the points of differences were the manner in which the letters ‘s’ was “written with its upward start, shape of the loop at the top, movement while makings its lower body part along with direction of its finish” as observed in Sheena’s original signature.
The experts also took into account the “general writing characteristic features such as skill, line quality, rhythm, slant, alignment, relative size and proportion of letters between both sets of signatures."
The conclusion, said the report, is that “Hand writing evidence points to the writer of the specimen writings signing as ‘S Bora’ attributed to Kajal Sharma being the person responsible or writing the questioned English signature."
