NEW DELHI: Representatives of the News Broadcasters Association met I&B secretary Sunil Arora on Thursday to sensitizing him of industry concerns about the 12-minute ad cap and high carriage fees.
“We spoke about some of the concerns that the broadcasters have related to high carriage fees and the 12-minute cap on advertisements. It was only a preliminary meeting,” a leading broadcaster said.
Among those present at the meeting were NBA president Rajat Sharma, NDTV’s Narayan Rao, ABP News Ashok Venkatramani among others.
Broadcasters have recently opposed the showcause notices sent by the ministry to some news channels on reportage related to the 1993 Mumbai terror attack convict Yakub Memon’s hanging. However, the issue was not discussed in the meeting.
