An Army Major of the 10th Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was shot dead by a jawan posted under him in Chandel district of Manipur, official sources said.

IMPHAL: An Army Major of the 10th Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry was shot dead by a jawan posted under him in Chandel district of Manipur, official sources said on Thursday.
Havildar Ashok Kumar (40), hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, entered the room of Major Ankit Bhardwaj at Moltuk post on Tuesday and fired several rounds from an AK-47 rifle, killing him on the spot.

The motive behind the murder of the 26-year-old major, hailing from West Bengal, was not immediately known, the sources said.
Police have registered a case in this connection.
