A group of tourists went on a thrilling safari in the Manyoni Private Reserve in South Africa but were soon chased away by an angry hippo that attacked their vehicle. Adventure turns terrifying after angry hippo chases tourists away.
The Manyoni Private Game Reserve is home to Africa’s ‘Big Five’ so while hippo sightings are par for the course when visiting an encounter like this might be once-in-a-lifetime. The tourists were terrified after they encountered a hippopotamus that came charging at them. The furious animal tried to attack the vehicle.
The tour was guided by an experienced wildlife guide, and the tourists were able to sight a cheetah with its three cubs earlier in the day. Soon, their excitement turned to terror after a massive hippo attacked them in the middle of the road. Reports suggest that the hippopotamus was furious because it did not find enough water in the riverbed and was suffering in the scorching heat of 35 degrees Celsius in South Africa.
According to the guide Sandiso, hippos are rarely seen during the day. They don't venture out in the sun because they have very sensitive skin. Because of the irritable temperature, the animal was agitated and tried to attack the safari vehicle it spotted. The guide explained that the vehicle immediately reversed when they saw the hippo launching a full-blow attack by running towards them.
Though they reflected soon and moved further, the hippo managed to catch up and it almost bit the vehicle off but it seemingly stunned and stopped after being hit by the vehicle. Look at the video here!

The hippo was silently grazing the grass before it suddenly leaped towards the jeep. Though it was exciting to watch the animal try to eat the vehicle's mirror, the team's timely action and expert handling made everyone escape unscathed. The hippo again retreated after the vehicle went far.
