The recently unveiled Hema Committee report from the Malayalam film industry has left the showbiz community shocked, revealing many incidents of sexual harassment, casting couch practices, and abuse against women in the workplace. The report prompted the Kerala government to form a special investigation team.
As of now, FIRs have been registered against nine individuals, including actor-politician Mukesh Madhavan, Siddique, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, Maniyanpilla Raju, directors Ranjith and VK Prakash, and production executives Vichu and Noble.
Earlier, Samantha had showered praises on Women in Collective Cinema (WCC), the women-led organization in Mollywood that initiated the probe in 2017. Now, actress Samantha has urged the Telangana government to look into the report submitted by the Voice of Women from Tollywood in 2019.
