Mahesh Babu and acclaimed director SS Rajamouli are set to collaborate on an ambitious new film, tentatively titled 'SSMB29'. This marks the first time the two giants of the Telugu film industry will work together. Filming is expected to begin in January 2025, with a special Pooja ceremony planned to kick off the production.
As per the latest Manobala Vijayabalan report, the makers have plans for it to be released in two parts. The first part is anticipated to hit theatres in 2027, followed by the second part in 2029. With a staggering budget of around Rs 1000 crores, 'SSMB29' seems to deliver a grand cinematic experience that showcases Rajamouli's signature style of epic storytelling and visuals.
It has been reported earlier that Mahesh Babu will portray a character inspired by Lord Hanuman from Hindu mythology, embarking on a globe-trotting adventure that promises to captivate audiences worldwide. The film is being described as a "global feature," with plans for international collaborations and potentially featuring several global artists.
Recently there have been rumours about Priyanka Chopra Jonas may be in talks for a co-lead role, although this has yet to be confirmed.
The film's script has been developed over two years by Vijayendra Prasad, Rajamouli's father and a renowned screenwriter known for his work on blockbusters like 'Baahubali' and 'RRR'.
