Chiranjeevi welcomed NASA astronauts
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore back to Earth after their remarkable nine-month journey in space. He referred to her story as a "true blue blockbuster and the greatest adventure."
On X (formerly Twitter), "WELCOME BACK TO EARTH, Sunita Williams & Butch Wilmore!! HISTORIC & HEROIC ‘HOME’ COMING!!! Went for 8 days to space and returned after 286 days, after an astonishing 4577 orbits around earth! Your story is an unmatchably dramatic, utterly nerve-wracking, unbelievably nail-biting thriller & the greatest adventure ever. A True Blue Blockbuster!! More power to you!!! @Astro_Suni Kudos to #SpaceXDragon #Crew9 for bringing them back! #SunitaWilliams"
The astronauts' return marked the end of an unplanned extended stay at the International Space Station (ISS), which began as a short mission but turned into a historic adventure.
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore initially embarked on a mission aboard Boeing's Starliner on June 5, 2024, expecting to spend just eight days in space. However, technical issues with the spacecraft's propulsion system forced it to return to Earth without them, leaving the duo stranded at the ISS. Their prolonged stay, which lasted 286 days and included 4,577 orbits around Earth, has provided scientists with invaluable insights into the effects of long-term space exposure on the human body.
The astronauts finally began their return journey on March 18, 2025, aboard SpaceX's Crew-9 mission. The
SpaceX Dragon capsule successfully splashed down off the coast of Florida, marking a safe conclusion to their epic journey.
Following their return, Williams and Wilmore have started a 45-day rehabilitation program to help them readjust to Earth's gravity.
On the work front, Chiranjeevi is working on his upcoming mega socio-fantasy film, 'Vishwambhara,' which will include high-quality visual effects.
He has also joined hands with director
Anil Ravipudi for a comedy entertainer.
